Hosted by David Stead Gallery in Yorkshire, ‘In The Footsteps Of Turner’ is an ongoing exhibition project revisiting many of the places painted by JMW Turner on his tours of northern England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The project has brought about an exciting and ambitious new series of paintings which will also form the nucleus of a touring exhibition in 2018 (more exhibition news to follow).
This project is also part of a TV film by German production company Gebrueder Beetz which is currently in production (scroll down for further information).
In summer 2017 David was approached by German film production company Gebrueder Beetz to take part in a TV film they were planning about Turner in the north of England. The film entitled ‘Vistas of Longing, Painters and their Landscapes’ would be part of a 5 part series featuring different artists and their landscapes. David joined producer Ina Kessebohm and a film crew at Norham castle on the Tweed to make preliminary sketches and later at Harewood House and his Norton Conyers studio to film the making of a large oil.
